Sovereignty of God

I was just reading in my book today about the sovereignty of God. The sovereignty of God is the idea that God is the ruler of creation and has the right to exercise his power over it.

In the past it was an easy one to answer as I simply refused to believe in God as he allows so much suffering. Over time Star Trek helped me answer this as the prime directive showed that interfering in a civilizations development leads to less free will and dire consequences.

So eventually when I did embrace God and find faith I understand the importance of human free will to God. So often I can blame other humans like the government for my woes and not God.

Even so my mental illness, autism and most recently my back pain makes me question at times why God allows this. Often I ask why me? My only answer is God has a plan for me and the human race which I wouldn’t understand.

Much like Captain Picard and his Starfleet crew to a primitive alien world, God is way more advanced and beyond my primitive comprehension. I wish God would intervene for me at every hurdle but I realise he can’t break his doctrines for my sake at every turn.

Finally people find all kinds of different meaning in life which I think is good for them. Though I believe God has the ultimate meaning to our lives but I don’t know entirely what that is except for the 2 most important commandments: Love God and your neighbour as yourself.
