Recently I have been sowing all kinds of seeds in pots to grow vegetables this Summer. What I am trying to grow can be found in this initial blog here.
I don’t have much experience in gardening. To be honest I wouldn’t say I have a serious interest. I like to watch plants grow especially if they have utility. So growing vegetables is more interesting to me as I’m then less dependent on capitalism to feed myself. I also believe reading a lot of the Bible when I was homeless in hospital last year has made me think more about farming. Mathew 13 (NIV, The Message) of the New Testament has the parable of the sower. That’s not to say I don’t like flowers and I may plant some this summer if I have some spare pots.
It’s fair to say I’m not a complete stranger to gardening. When I lived in Australia many years years ago I grew Tomatoes, Strawberries, Broccoli, Lettuce, Peppers, Carrots and a few other things. I did this all my from my balcony, though I imagine it’s a lot easier to grow things over there if you have the water.
Back in the present in England in early Spring, nothing of mine has yet grown from seeds except my tomato plant pots. I planted 4 cherry tomato seeds in this pot. 3 seedlings have started to grow. Hopefully they will each become tomato plants in their own right with there own pots each. It’s too early to say how my gardening is going so far.
